Welcome to the concluding part of this sensitive and important topic. Click for part 1 and part 2 . Remember our text is from John ...
Remember our text is from John 10:2-5.
Now no christian can boldly say he has mastered the process of hearing from God 100%, but I just want us to share some biblical principles that will help us.
Eccl 5:1-2 "Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.
2 Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few."
It is only a fool that will try to transmit and receive at the same time. You can’t be talking and be listening. It is not the amount of talking that matters but what you hear. Some people want to impress God with long prayers, but Jesus refused it in Mat 23:14. It is not what you have to say that matters but what He has to say. Many of us don’t hear because we talk too much. (Read Pro 1:28). Let your words be few. When we talk, nothing happens, but when HE talks, miracles happen. James 1:19 reminds us to be quick to hear and slow to speak.
In John chapter 11, when Jesus’ friend, Lazarus, died, He didn’t rush there. He waited for something to say before going there. It doesn’t matter how difficult a situation is, when God speaks, it will give way.
I love Isaiah 50:4 - "The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned."
Consciously tune to heaven's frequency.
Before we end this series, let us take note of the following points:
- Pray for the opening of your spiritual ears
- Live a life of obedience to God (He does not waste His words, once He knows that this believer will not hear him or do what He says, He may stop speaking to Him)
- Get a journal/diary, not for recording the events of the day, but for God’s dealing with you as an individual.
I pray that God will begin to minister to us as from today. Miracles will become a normal part of your life in Jesus’ name. Amen!
