Why did He roll the stone away?
Hello friends,

Our discussion today is a topic around the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. First of all, let us look at some scriptures for comparison:
John 20:19 It was the evening of the first day of the week, and the doors of the house where the disciples had met were locked because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Jesus came and stood among them. He told them, "Peace be with you."

Here we see the event that took place after the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. The disciples had locked themselves up for the fear of the Jewish leaders so that no one could get it. But the bible says Jesus came and stood among them (in spite of the locked door). That means Jesus did not have to unlock the door before getting in. The locked door was not a barrier for Jesus. kindly hold that with a thread of thought while we examine another scripture.

John 20:25-26 The other disciples therefore said to him, “We have seen the Lord.”
So he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.” A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!"

Again, the doors were locked, yet Jesus appeared in their midst. Now, these two scriptures have proven that Jesus can 'move' through physical barriers. A fastened or locked door does not disturb His movement. He moves however He pleases.

But in Matthew 28:1-2 Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. Verse 6 says He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

From the previous scriptures we established that Jesus can walk through locked doors and appear at the other side. But in verse 2 of Matthew 28, the bible says "...and rolled the stone from the door...He is not here..."

What I want us to discuss today is, since we know that physical doors are not barriers for Jesus, why was the stone rolled away?
