Our text is from Deuteronomy 8:18: And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

God made the promise of wealth to the fore fathers of the above generation, but he never sent the wealth, He gave them power.

This is quite interesting because the bible says it is HE who gives you POWER to get wealth. It is imperative that we start this off by saying God does not give wealth, He gives POWER to get wealth. It is what we do with this power that determines if we will be wealthy or not.

Let us use an analogy: A wife gives the husband stew, but it is the husband that provides the money for the groceries. If the husband thinks his money can translate into stew, he should try putting it on the table and try calling stew into existence.

Somebody has to take the money and go get groceries. And amazingly, when the groceries are brought, they don’t look like stew. You will see onions, peppers, tomatoes and spices. All these still don’t translate into stew until the blender gets to work and there is some cooking.

Such it the skill God has given us. The passion, the desires He planted in our hearts. The power to get wealth. But most of the time, we don’t use the skill, we just pray and fast especially in this part of the world. We do not develop our skills. We do not channel our passion towards our goals. Just like the stew, our raw talent needs to be refined. We need to take that degree course, we need to serve under that mentor, we need more training and courses. A diamond is not attractive in its raw form until it is polished and undergoes extreme heat.

There is no one that Jehovah God has created without a talent. There is no one without a skill. The greatest woe that can ever befall a man is to have eyes and not have vision. As awesome as God is, He still needs you to transform the power He has given you into the wealth you have been praying to Him for.
So, the question is are you praying to Him for wealth, what are you doing with that power?
